My Little Man banged his head at Soft Play this weekend. He can be very clumsy and to be honest, so can I! I’d rather he took after me with one of my more useful characteristics. Anyway, when he hurts himself, I am there with the hugs. I pause for a bit because I often find he is waiting for a reaction that might not be needed.
With Not-So-Little Lady I used to dash over immediately until one day I didn’t, and she got up and was fine! So now, with Little Man, I wait a few seconds before going over.
I digress. So there I was at Soft Play (It was hell but thats a whole other post) and this child comes over to their mum screaming that they’d hurt themselves. I nearly fell off my chair when I heard the parent say “But did you die?” (hence this free printable colouring page. It wasn’t that I found it hilariously funny, I was just shocked.
I guess we don’t know if Little Billy (that’s what I named her child) is constantly hurting himself and she’s at the point where she’s had enough. Maybe she just doesn’t care. Either way, it reminded me of one of the things that my ex, (their Dad, who we shall hereby call Mr Kerr – not his real name) would say “Chop it off!”. I can remember Little Lady turning round one day and saying “No! I’ll be swimming in blood!”. I had to console her and tell her that he didn’t mean it. He continued to say it for years.
Anyway, whatever her situation, it inspired me quite randomly to do this colouring page!
